Eating disorder self-referral

Beat Eating Disorders – the leading eating disorder charity – is working to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders.  We provide a range of services, programmes and support to help sufferers of eating disorders and those that care for them.  Thanks to continued funding from the Welsh government we are able to provide free places on a number of our support programmes which have been set up to enable individuals to self-refer.  It would be great if you could share this with colleagues and display the attached poster.  The free programmes available are:

SharED Online Peer Support Programme – SharED is a free email support service for young people aged 12-25 years of age who are currently struggling with an eating disorder (no need for formal diagnosis).  Each young person is matched with a trained volunteer who has lived experience and recovered from their own eating disorder and provides email support over a 6 month period.

Endeavour Support Programme – Endeavour is a carer support group for parents/carers of young people aged 5-15, with an ARFID (Avoidance/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) diagnosis and/or displaying ARFID behaviours and presentations.  Endeavour is an 8-week programme, involving 90 minute weekly group sessions delivered by Zoom.

Nexus Support Programme – Nexus offers support for carers whose loved one is experiencing Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder or OSFED (Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder).  Loved one’s do not need a formal diagnosis.  Through Nexus, carers will be able to connect each week with a trained Beat advisor, who’ll provide you with a place to talk through what you’re going through and empower them to help your loved one towards positive change.

Beat also provides a range of free and accessible services including our Wales Helpline 0808 801 0433 and online support provided through 1-2-1 webchat and email support, as well as on-line peer support groups.  We also have our POD (Peer support and Online Development) which is Beat’s online carer community designed to provide people supporting someone with an eating disorder with a space to learn, share experiences and find support.

Mae Beat Eating Disorders – y brif elusen anhwylderau bwyta – yn gweithio i ddod â’r boen a’r dioddefaint a achosir gan anhwylderau bwyta i ben. Rydym yn darparu ystod o wasanaethau, rhaglenni a chefnogaeth i helpu dioddefwyr anhwylderau bwyta a’r rhai sy’n gofalu amdanynt. Diolch i gyllid parhaus gan Lywodraeth Cymru rydym yn gallu darparu lleoedd am ddim ar nifer o’n rhaglenni cymorth sydd wedi’u sefydlu i alluogi unigolion i hunangyfeirio. Byddai’n wych pe gallech rannu hwn gyda chydweithwyr ac arddangos y poster atodedig. Y rhaglenni rhad ac am ddim sydd ar gael yw:

SharED Online Peer Support Programme – Mae ShareD yn wasanaeth cymorth e-bost rhad ac am ddim i bobl ifanc 12-25 oed sy’n cael trafferth ar hyn o bryd ag anhwylder bwyta (dim angen diagnosis ffurfiol). Mae pob person ifanc yn cael ei baru gyda gwirfoddolwr hyfforddedig sydd wedi cael profiad byw ac wedi gwella o’i anhwylder bwyta ei hun ac yn darparu cefnogaeth e-bost dros gyfnod o 6 mis.

Endeavour Support Programme – Endeavour yw grŵp cefnogaeth gofalwyr ar gyfer rhieni/ gofalwyr pobl ifanc 5-15 oed, gyda diagnosis ARFID (Anhwylder Osgoi/Cyfyngu ar Fwyd) a/neu arddangos ymddygiad a chyflwyniadau ARFID. Mae Endeavour yn rhaglen 8 wythnos, sy’n cynnwys sesiynau grŵp wythnosol 90 munud a ddarperir gan Zoom.

Nexus Support Programme – Mae Nexus yn cynnig cymorth i ofalwyr y mae eu hanwyliaid yn profi Anorecsia Nerfosa, Bwlimia Nerfosa, Anhwylder Goryfed mewn Goryfed neu OSFED (Anhwylder Bwydo a Bwyta Penodedig Arall). Nid oes angen diagnosis ffurfiol ar anwyliaid. Trwy Nexus, bydd gofalwyr yn gallu cysylltu bob wythnos â chynghorydd Beat hyfforddedig, a fydd yn rhoi lle i chi siarad am yr hyn rydych chi’n mynd drwyddo a’u grymuso i helpu’ch anwylyd tuag at newid cadarnhaol.

Mae Beat hefyd yn darparu ystod o wasanaethau hygyrch am ddim gan gynnwys ein Llinell Gymorth Cymru 0808 801 0433 a chymorth ar-lein a ddarperir trwy sgwrs we 1-2-1 a chymorth ebost, yn ogystal â grwpiau cymorth cymheiriaid ar-lein. Mae gennym hefyd ein POD (Peer Support and Online Development) sef cymuned ofalwyr ar-lein Beat sydd wedi’i chynllunio i roi lle i bobl sy’n cefnogi rhywun ag anhwylder bwyta ddysgu, rhannu profiadau a dod o hyd i gefnogaeth.
