Repeat prescriptions

To order a repeat prescription

  • Use your NHS Wales account
  • Use the repeat ordering slip on your previous prescription. Leave it at the surgery or post it to us.

Your prescription will be ready for collection 7 days after your order has been received. Only order a repeat prescription if you have less than 7 days of medication remaining.

If we have your mobile number, we will send a text to let you know when your prescription is ready to collect.

You can use an online form to give us your consent.

We can also post your prescription to you if you provide us with a stamped, addressed envelope.

Dispensary

Town Gate Practice is a dispensing practice. This means that some patients can collect their medicines from the surgery.

The practice is able to offer a dispensing service to our patients who live more than one mile from the nearest chemist or any patient who is registered with us on a temporary basis.
This enables you to collect your actual medication from the surgery.

If you live within a mile of the nearest chemist, we will issue you paper prescriptions to go to the local chemist of your choice or for collection from the surgery.

Please allow a minimum of 48 working hours notice when ordering your prescriptions.

Electronic prescriptions service (EPS)

If you get regular prescriptions or are already using a prescription collection service (where a pharmacy collects prescriptions from your GP practice for you) then choosing a pharmacy to dispense all your prescriptions may save you time by avoiding unnecessary trips to your GP.

You will still order your repeat prescriptions in the same way as you do now, but your prescriptions will be sent electronically to the pharmacy or dispenser of your choice.

You will not have to collect a paper repeat prescription from your GP practice.

Medication reviews

We have a duty to review your health and medicines regularly. We will let you know if you need to make an appointment for a medication review with either our practice nurses or your doctor.

If you need urgent advice about your medication outside our surgery hours, please call NHS 111 or go to the NHS Wales 111 website.
