Sick certificates

NHS medical certificates are provided for periods of incapacity from work, which are greater than 7 days.

There is a legal requirement that these certificates are not issued until the 7th day of incapacity and cannot be issued without seeing a Doctor, either in hospital or in General Practice.

For periods of absence less than 7 days you must complete a self-certification form and this is available from your employers.
